president obama footing his signature on 23 executive orders today all meant to address a gun-control in month of talk less byled by vice president joe biden about what can be done after the new town connecticut school shooting it includes researching the causes of gun violence encouraging more school safety officers tracing guns in criminal investigation and the rest more controversial plan is in the hands of congress. i'm calling on congress to pass some very specific proposals right away. first it's time for congress to require a universal background check for anyone trying to buy a gun of course the gun debate also stirs up the mental health debate doctors can ask patients whether they own a gun and remind them to report any threats of violence the proposal generating some support but likely not enough. this will be difficult. there will be pundits and politicians and special interest lobbyists publicly warning of a tyrannical all-out assault on weapons. while the president may have been surrounded by support there is plenty of high resistance after the new town shooting the natio
